The antidote to small talk
Mar 07, 2023Last week I had a chance to visit with one of the most inspiring women in business that I know. We had 20 minutes to catch up on six months of life.
We could’ve started the conversation by talking about what’s right, wrong, or the same in our lives. Instead, my friend asked me this question:
What have you learned about yourself recently?
Mic drop.
What a brilliant way to get to the core of what someone values most in this phase of life, where they’ve been, and how they’ve evolved.
This one single question reinforces the idea that it’s our perspective and interpretation of life that matters most, not the actual events themselves. Even better, it allows us to take ownership of our experience without sliding into shame, blame, or victimization.
What if your next conversation started with this question? Better yet, what if you asked yourself this question?
Try it out and let me know what you think! Whether it's life, love, business, or otherwise, our ability to celebrate our growth makes the journey way more fun.
